Subject	225/50-16s on an 8.5 inch rim?

Message	I posted a while back bout my car have all the wheels being rotated wrong (its a TT) and having both the 7.5" and 8.5" wide stock rims on both the front and back of the car. Anyway, someone told be today that having the 225/50-16 tires on the rear 8.5" wide tt rim could have damaged the tire or stretched it out, making it unusable back on the 7.5" rim..... is that true, or even a possiblity?
